Benjamin Lecomte, Fulham’s forgotten signing

It has been an extremely frustrating summer for Fulham in terms of transfers in, being linked with players only for Fabrizio Romano to tweet they are going elsewhere!

However, we need to remember that we have signed one player.

34-year-old Benjamin Lecomte, a French Goalkeeper brought in as an experienced backup to our current number one, Bernd Leno.

So what do we know about him? Playing for France at the under-19 & 20 levels and has been called up to the main France squad, but was unfortunately never capped.

He has played for some Top European sides, most notably Monaco and Atletico Madrid.

He was signed by Fulham from Montpellier for a fee of £500k, signing a two-year deal.

It was a disappointing season for him as the side was relegated from Ligue 1 with just 16 points gained. He appeared 30 times for the side, keeping just one clean sheet last season.

Overall, Lecomte brings a wealth of experience with over 300 Ligue 1 appearances.

However underwhelming the signing seems, I still think it is an improvement on last season’s backup Steven Benda, who has now been loaned out.

Small gains.
